Forecast Discussion: Current conditions: West to northwesterly winds continue to transport clean air into the area this Tuesday afternoon, so fine particulate concentrations are in the good range. Tonight will turn out partly to mostly cloudy as temperatures fall back into the middle 20s. *** Wednesday's forecast: A little more sunshine is expected on Wednesday, but with some cloudiness as well. A light northerly flow will still bring enough clean air in to where fine particulate remains in the good range. *** Extended forecast: High pressure will be overhead late this week, and very light winds and limited mixing will bring deteriorations in air quality. In addition, morning inversions may be stronger, so moderate air quality is likely Thursday into Friday, with the highest concentrations coming during the morning hours. The next weather system will affect us Saturday with a couple of rain showers, then brisk and colder Sunday with a couple of snow showers. Milder air then moves in on Monday as winds turn more southwesterly. Good air quality will prevail over the weekend.---McAuliffe
