Forecast Discussion: FORECAST SUMMARY: Tuesday, February 21st, 2017 through Monday, February 27th, 2017 PM-2.5: 24-hour Fine Particulate concentrations are expected to be Good to Low Moderates throughout the forecast period. FORECAST DISCUSSION: The recent warm weather was expected to generate areas of Low Moderate concentrations with associated high pressure system and ample moisture. While we did see some pockets of Low Moderates in the more urban monitors during the Friday through Sunday period, the majority of the state stayed in the Good range. The mild February weather is expected to linger through most of the work week. A weak cold front will move through the state Tuesday morning. There will not be much, if any, cool down following this front. In fact, Wednesday may prove to be a record warm day. Another weak front will pass through the region, early Thursday morning, without much fanfare. A more significant cold front will pass through the region during Friday. While I am not expecting any type of Arctic air behind this front, we should return to more seasonable temperatures for the end of February. In terms of Air Quality, I expect a blend of Good and Low Moderates, with the highest concentrations in the more urban areas. We will not get a total cleanout until the Friday cold front. EXTENDED FORECAST: Air Quality is expected to continue to be mostly Good going into the next work week. Forecast updated by Jim Haywood: Tuesday, February 21st, 2017 Next forecast update: Monday, February 27th, 2017
