Forecast Discussion: Ozone concentrations on this hot Tuesday afternoon are trending solidly in the yellow category for the Catawba zone, while other zones are trending anywhere from code green to low code yellow. A hot ridge of high pressure aloft dominates the weather pattern through tomorrow (and beyond). It is acting to suppress much of our cloud development and afternoon convection. Thus, we expect mainly dry, sunny, and hot conditions again for tomorrow, along with a light wind regime. Fortunately, clean sourcing and humid conditions will curtail ozone production somewhat. Expect the highest concentrations to occur across the Catawba, Midlands, CSRA, and Pee Dee regions, where Code YELLOW is being forecast. The Upstate and Trident zones will be cleaner and code GREEN.
