Forecast Discussion: Today, a low-pressure system will move through Minnesota, shifting winds to westerly and transporting clean air into Rochester. Therefore, despite morning fog and mist enhancing particle concentrations, AQI levels will be Good. Tomorrow and Tuesday, moderate northwesterly winds behind the departing weather system will disperse pollutants and bring clean, cool air into southern Minnesota, leading to Good AQI levels on both days. Wednesday through Friday, light and variable winds will limit pollutant dispersion in Rochester, and an upper-level ridge of high pressure will inhibit vertical mixing. However, cool temperatures will continue to limit ozone formation, and pollutant carryover from day to day will be low. Therefore, AQI levels will remain Good on all three days.
