Forecast Discussion: Wednesday, June 26, 2019: Today marks the beginning of a warm-up over the next few days as an upper level ridge builds and winds switch from the south. High temperatures will be in the low 80s. Skies will be mostly sunny for much of the state with the exception of around the Twin Cities, where mid-level clouds are persisting into the afternoon. Yellow (moderate) AQI values for ozone are possible for the southeast part of the state. Green (good) AQI values are expected for the rest of the state. Thunderstorms will move across the central and southern parts state tomorrow morning and develop over northern MN in the afternoon. Some could be strong to severe. Temperatures will be in the low 80s, while dewpoints climb to near 70 degrees. Rain and clouds result in Green AQI values statewide. On Friday, winds will be light from the east and skies will be mostly sunny across much of the state. Far southern MN may see lingering clouds. High temperatures will again be in the 80s. Yellow AQI values are possible for southern MN. Green AQI values are expected for the rest of the state. Temperatures and humidity in climb even more on Saturday. High temperatures will reach the low 90s in the SW corner of the state, while highs in the upper 80s are expected for the rest of the state. Widespread scattered clouds are possible. Yellow AQI values are expected for southern and central MN.
