Forecast Discussion: A very wet and gloomy weekend lies ahead as an unseasonably strong storm system will bring heavy rain to the Delaware Valley Friday afternoon through Sunday morning. Despite mostly cloudy skies until lunchtime on Friday, temperatures will rise into the mid-80s °F. Skies will become overcast in the afternoon, with scattered showers in the late afternoon become widespread heavy rain in the evening hours. Very limited ozone formation will be able to take place in the few hours before precipitation moves into the region, keeping ozone levels well within the Good range. Particles will rise slightly in response to stagnant winds and relatively high humidity but concentrations will remain in the Good range. **Extended Forecast: Heavy rain will persist throughout Saturday as the storm system slowly moves overhead toward the Delmarva coast. Temperatures will only reach the low-to-mid 70s °F under overcast skies. Ozone and particles will drop to the low end of the Good range on Saturday. A few scattered showers will linger across the Delaware Valley Sunday morning but with some clearing by the afternoon. Very brisk, clean northeasterly flow aloft will keep temperatures in the low-to-mid 70s °F and ozone and particles well within the Good range. -Enlow/Huff
