Forecast Discussion: It will be a very pleasant weekend for the Delaware Valley. Although temperatures will lag a bit below normal, high pressure will promote sunny skies and diminishing winds. A very dry air mass will remain in place over the Mid-Atlantic region through the weekend, which will inhibit particle formation. In addition, ample vertical mixing will help ventilate the atmosphere. Particle concentrations will rise slightly on Saturday and then again on Sunday, but daily average particle air quality will remain in the Good range. The center of high pressure will move offshore on Monday afternoon. Pleasant, seasonably cool and sunny weather will continue. Particle concentrations will increase in response to stagnation in the morning, but persistent dry air and a switch to onshore winds in the second half of the day will limit daily average particle air quality to the top of the Good range. **Extended Forecast: A coastal storm will begin making its way up the Atlantic coast toward the Mid-Atlantic on Tuesday. Onshore winds will strengthen, both aloft and at the surface. Particles will drop back down lower in the Good range in response to the clean maritime flow. -Huff
