Forecast Discussion: Current Conditions: Plenty of sunshine and warmth is fueling ozone development across the region this Friday afternoon, and most locations will go to the top end of the moderate range. With increasing relative humidity, fine particulate levels are also in the moderate range. Tonight will be clear to partly cloudy and mild with lows in the middle to upper 60s. *** Saturday's forecast: Saturday will start out partly to mostly sunny, but a thunderstorm will occur in the mid to late afternoon as temperatures again rise to the middle and upper 80s. The development of thunderstorms will keep ozone formation further down in the middle moderate range, with fine particulate levels remaining moderate as well. *** Sunday's forecast: Clouds and limited sunshine on Sunday as tropical moisture streams northward from the Gulf of Mexico, and this will trigger numerous showers and a thunderstorm or two. Ozone will be restricted to the lower moderate range at worst, with the possibility of upper good fine particulate levels depending on how heavy rainfall is. *** Memorial Day forecast: A small area of high pressure will bring mainly dry conditions for Memorial Day, but there can still be a pop up afternoon shower. Ozone levels will remain in the upper good range, but fine particulate may stay moderate with the lack of mixing. *** Tuesday's forecast: Rather cloudy for the day Tuesday with increasing onshore flow and the chance for showers, and air quality averaging in the upper good to lower moderate range. *** Extended forecast: An onshore flow of moist air will result in unsettled conditions and above average rainfall probabilities for the mid to late week period with low chances for any elevated ozone concentrations. Fine particulate will range from upper good to low moderate depending on precipitation amounts and the strength of the onshore flow.---McAuliffe
