Forecast Discussion: Current Conditions: High pressure is building into the area from the Ohio valley this Wednesday afternoon, with brisk west to northwest winds. This increase in low level mixing is bringing fine particulate down into the good range. Partly cloudy and cold tonight with lows dipping into the lower to middle 20s. *** Thanksgiving Day forecast: Clouds and a little sunshine for Thanksgiving, but still on the chilly side as high temperatures only make it to the 40 degree mark. The air will remain dry enough to keep fine particulate in the good range. *** Friday's forecast: Winds will turn into the south and lighten Friday, and with a morning inversion, fine particulate will increase to the moderate range. The mercury will rise to the lower 50s with the aid of sunshine. *** Saturday's forecast: A cold front will pass through the area Saturday, but it will be moisture starved with nothing more than a rain shower. Increasing mixing with the frontal passage will send fine particulate back to the good range. *** Sunday's forecast: Brisk and cold Sunday with more clouds than sun, along with a couple of snow showers. Strong mixing brings fine particulate down to low levels as temperatures do not rise past the upper 30s. *** Monday's forecast: High pressure builds in anew to start the work week, and with a mostly sunny sky, highs will reach close to 50 degrees late in the day. Fine particulate may also increase to the lower moderate zone in parts of the area. *** Extended forecast: Our dry weather pattern will continue through the middle of the week, with another mostly dry frontal passage expected later on Tuesday or Tuesday night. Tuesday may turn out to be the mildest day of the week with temperatures well into the 50s, then the air will turn a little cooler behind the front later on in the week. Since a progressive weather pattern is expected, air quality should be mostly in the good range next week.---McAuliffe
