Forecast Discussion: FORECAST SUMMARY: Sunday, August 24th, 2014 through Monday, August 25th, 2014 Ozone: 8-hour concentrations are expected to be Good to Moderate; with isolated USG possible Monday along the southwest lakeshore. PM-2.5: 24-hour Fine Particulate concentrations will stay in the Good to Moderate range. FORECAST DISCUSSION: Ozone levels remained low again Saturday with Good readings across the state. For Sunday, an east/southeast wind and clouds will help stop ozone from reaching higher than the Moderate range. As we move into Monday, winds switch more to the south and temperatures and humidity levels increase. Some weather conditions are in place where I’d expect higher ozone, for instance increased surface and upper level temperatures and a southerly wind. However, with such a low background in place and the fact that forecast models are showing a decent amount of cloud cover, I’m not inclined to issue an Air Quality Action Day for Monday. There is a small chance a monitor right along the southwest lake shore could reach USG but the threat would be confined to that area. Ozone and fine particulate will be mostly Moderate. EXTENDED FORECAST: Warm, muggy weather will linger into Tuesday. A slow moving frontal boundary sinking south through the state will bring precipitation chances starting late Monday… Forecast updated by Stephanie Hengesbach: Sunday, August 24th, 2014 Next forecast update: Monday, August 25th, 2014
