Forecast Discussion: FORECAST SUMMARY: Monday, October 13th, 2014 through Monday, October 20th, 2014 PM-2.5: 24-hour Fine Particulate concentrations are expected to be generally Good to Low Moderate through the forecast period… FORECAST DISCUSSION: After a beautiful, crystal clear, and dry autumn weekend has given way to cloudy, wet weather which will persist through the week. As of Monday morning, a large low pressure system is slowly tracking up from Texas and will stall out over Illinois during the first half of the week. This system will eventually track east of the forecast area by Friday. The main feature of this slow moving system will be amount of precipitable water and rainfall amounts. Many areas could see several inches of new rain. Surface winds will be biased from an easterly direction for most of the week. While I do not expect any large buildup of fine particulates, these are not typical cleansing winds. As such, I expect the PM-2.5 concentrations to stay in the Good to Low Moderate range, all week. EXTENDED FORECAST: Wet weather looks to persist through the weekend… Forecast updated by Jim Haywood: Monday, October 13th, 2014 Next forecast update: Monday, October 20th, 2014
