Forecast Discussion: With the regional airmass now modifying quickly, increased temperatures will boost ozone concentrations on Sunday and through at least early next week as persistent high pressure dominates the region. On Sunday, with modification to the local airmass evident, lower Sunday emissions and some cloud cover may not be enough to offset higher temperatures and dirtied air, resulting in Moderate ozone, with a few areas perhaps reaching towards the upper Moderate AQI range, depending on cloud cover extent. Hagerstown valley continues to observe increased fine particle concentrations and is expected to finish well in the Moderate AQI range on Sunday. On Monday, hot and humid conditions will be offset by cloud cover and a few thunderstorms along the I-95 corridor to result again in Moderate ozone AQI. Fine particles will again be in the Moderate range, with higher concentrations expected near Hagerstown. Light winds, clear skies and unseasonably warm temperatures will take ozone to at least the upper Moderate range Tuesday. - MDE
