Forecast Discussion: Wednesday, surface high pressure moving across Louisiana will produce light and variable winds, reducing pollutant dispersion. Furthermore, mostly sunny skies and warm temperatures will enhance ozone formation. These conditions will lead to Moderate AQI levels statewide, with high-Moderate AQI levels expected in Baton Rouge. Thursday, as a cold front approaches from the west, light to moderate southerly winds will develop in Louisiana, helping to disperse pollutants. However, partly to mostly sunny skies and warm temperatures will continue to support ozone production, leading to Good to low-Moderate AQI levels across the state. Friday, as surface high pressure moves across Louisiana, calm morning winds will limit pollutant dispersion. However, light to moderate southerly winds will help to disperse pollutants in the afternoon, and lingering clouds and rain showers will inhibit ozone formation in the southern portion of the state. These conditions will keep AQI levels Good to low-Moderate.
