Forecast Discussion: Monday, moderate northwesterly winds behind a departing weak cold front will help to disperse pollutants in Louisiana. Therefore, despite sunny skies and warm temperatures supporting ozone formation, AQI levels will be Good to low-Moderate statewide. Tuesday, surface high pressure moving eastward across Arkansas will produce light to moderate easterly winds in Louisiana, aiding pollutant dispersion and keeping AQI levels Good to low-Moderate. Wednesday, increasing clouds and scattered thunderstorms ahead of an approaching cold front will reduce ozone formation in Louisiana. However, moderate southerly winds will transport smoke from the western Gulf into Louisiana, increasing particle levels. As a result, AQI levels will remain Good to low-Moderate.
