Forecast Discussion: Air quality forecast northern Indiana issued Wednesday, November 19, 2014 for Thursday, November 20 and Friday, November 21. A cold front is currently located across northwest Indiana from South Bend to north of Lafayette. The cold front will move through all of northern Indiana by Wednesday evening reinforcing the already unseasonably cold air in place across all of northern Indiana and the Upper Midwest and Lake Michigan regions. Expect a continuation of good air quality for fine particulates (PM2.5) for all regions of northern Indiana on Thursday as the wind direction will continue from a northwest to northerly direction. The wind direction becomes southwest by Friday afternoon increasing the PM2.5 concentrations across northern Indiana into the moderate range.
