Forecast Discussion: Tuesday, surface high pressure moving eastward across northern Louisiana will produce light to moderate easterly winds in Louisiana, aiding pollutant dispersion. These winds, combined with low regional pollutant carryover from Monday, will result in Good to low-Moderate AQI levels statewide. Wednesday, increasing clouds and scattered showers and thunderstorms will inhibit ozone formation. However, light to moderate southerly winds will transport smoke from the western Gulf into Louisiana, increasing particle levels and resulting in Good to low-Moderate AQI levels throughout the state. Thursday, as a frontal boundary stalls across Louisiana, partly to mostly cloudy skies and widespread showers and thunderstorms will limit ozone formation. However, in the southern portion of the state, generally southerly winds will continue to bring smoke from the western Gulf into the region. Therefore, AQI levels will remain Good to low-Moderate.
