Forecast Discussion: Monday, light winds will limit pollutant dispersion throughout Louisiana. In addition, mostly sunny skies and very warm temperatures will enhance ozone formation. These conditions will lead to mid- to high-Moderate AQI levels in most cities. Tuesday, mostly sunny skies and temperatures in the 90s will continue to support ozone production, and Saharan dust will increase particle levels. Furthermore, light winds will limit pollutant dispersion, especially in the southeastern portion of the state. As a result, AQI levels will remain Moderate across the state. Wednesday, scattered thunderstorms will reduce ozone formation, and light to moderate southerly winds will help to disperse pollutants. However, these winds will also transport Saharan dust into Louisiana. Therefore, AQI levels will be Moderate statewide.
