Forecast Discussion: Sunday, July 27: A low-pressure system approaching from the west will produce mostly cloudy skies and widespread thunderstorms, reducing ozone formation in Youngstown-Warren. However, southwesterly winds will transport moisture and pollutants into the region, enhancing particle production and leading to low-Moderate AQI levels. Monday, July 28: As the low-pressure system departs to the east, moderate northwesterly winds will disperse pollutants, and mostly cloudy skies and rain showers will limit ozone production. Therefore, AQI levels will be Good. Tuesday and Wednesday, light to moderate westerly winds keep pollutants well dispersed in the Mahoning Valley, and lingering rain showers and clouds will inhibit ozone formation, keeping AQI levels Good on both days. Thursday and Friday, as surface high pressure moves over the Buckeye State, lighter winds will reduce pollutant dispersion. In addition, partly sunny skies will aid ozone formation. Therefore, AQI levels will be low-Moderate on both days.
