Forecast Discussion: Today, surface high pressure over Minnesota will generate light winds, reducing pollutant dispersion in the Rochester area. Furthermore, humid air will aid particle formation. Therefore, AQI levels will be Moderate. Tomorrow, as a low-pressure system develops over Illinois, winds will increase and shift to northwesterly in Rochester. These winds will disperse pollutants and bring cleaner, drier air into the region, reducing particle formation and lowering AQI levels to Good. Tuesday, surface high pressure over the northern Plains will produce moderate northerly winds in the Rochester area, dispersing pollutants and keeping AQI levels Good. Wednesday and Thursday, moderate southeasterly winds ahead of an approaching low-pressure system will bring pollutants and moisture into southeastern Minnesota, enhancing particle formation. As a result, AQI levels will be low-Moderate on both days. Friday, the low-pressure system will move through Rochester, keeping the lower levels of the atmosphere well mixed. These weather conditions will disperse pollutants, leading to Good AQI levels.
