Forecast Discussion: Today, surface high pressure building into the western Great Lakes will cause winds to diminish and shift to southerly in Rochester. These conditions will reduce pollutant dispersion. However, pollutant carryover from Thursday will be low, resulting in Good AQI levels. Tomorrow and Sunday, surface high pressure moving from south-central Canada to the northern Plains will generate moderate northerly winds in Rochester. These weather conditions will effectively disperse pollutants, leading to Good AQI levels on both days. Monday and Tuesday, moderate southerly winds will transport some regional pollutants into Rochester. However, low pollutant carryover from day to day will keep AQI levels Good on both days. Wednesday, a weak low-pressure system moving through southern Minnesota early in the day will shift winds to northwesterly, keeping pollutants well dispersed and yielding Good AQI levels.
