Forecast Discussion: Today, breezy south-southeasterly winds will bring regional pollutants into southeastern Minnesota. In addition, a moist air mass will support the formation of particles. These conditions, will yield mid-Moderate AQI levels. Tomorrow, a low-pressure system will move into southern Minnesota, enhancing vertical mixing in the atmosphere and producing breezy southeasterly winds. These weather conditions will help to disperse pollutants in the Rochester area; however, pollutant carryover from previous days will lead to low-Moderate AQI levels. Tuesday and Wednesday, moderate northwesterly winds behind the departing low-pressure system will effectively disperse pollutants and transport a cleaner, drier air mass into southeastern Minnesota. As a result, AQI levels will be Good on both days. Thursday, a rapidly-approaching low-pressure system will generate moderate southwesterly winds that will help to disperse pollutants in the Rochester area. These winds, combined with low pollutant carryover from previous days, will keep AQI levels Good. Friday, the low-pressure system will move through southeastern Minnesota early in the day, enhancing vertical mixing and shifting winds to northwesterly. These weather conditions will effectively disperse pollutants, resulting in Good AQI levels.
