Forecast Discussion: FORECAST SUMMARY: Monday, March 23rd, 2015 through Monday, March 30th, 2015 PM-2.5: 24-hour Fine Particulate concentrations are expected to be mostly Good through the forecast period. FORECAST DISCUSSION: On and off storm systems will bring chances for precipitation this week. The first will bring snow showers to the southwestern portion of the state. Easterly winds associated with this system will keep air quality in the Good range. Tuesday will be a quiet, but cool day, with easterly/southwesterly winds. Good fine particulate will continue. For mid-week a storm system will be moving up from the southwest. Temperatures will increase Wednesday as winds turn southwesterly, bringing in warmer air. Rain showers will enter the forecast early Wednesday, lasting through much of the day. Winds weaken for a time late Wednesday before northwesterly winds move in behind the system. As temperatures fall, rain chances will turn to scattered snow showers. Cold temperatures and high pressure move in for the end of the work week. Northerly winds will be in place Thursday and Friday. Air quality levels will be Good. EXTENDED FORECAST: Extended forecast models show high pressure moving east of the state Saturday. Winds turn to the southwest; however, speeds are quite strong. Because of this, fine particulate will likely remain Good. A strong low pressure area is forecast to pass through Sunday/Monday. Cold air will again be moving into the area early next week keeping air quality Good.
