Forecast Discussion: Friday, surface high pressure over the southeastern U.S. will produce moderate southeasterly winds in Louisiana, helping to disperse pollutants. However, smoke from regional fires will contribute to increased particle levels, especially in the southern portion of the state. As a result, AQI levels will be Good to low-Moderate statewide. Saturday, winds will increase out of the southeast as a low-pressures system approaches Louisiana from the west. These winds will effectively disperse pollutants, resulting in Good AQI levels throughout the state. Sunday, the low-pressure system will move through Louisiana, enhancing vertical mixing and generating gusty southwesterly winds. These conditions will keep pollutants dispersed, yielding Good AQI levels statewide.
