Forecast Discussion: Current Conditions: As of 2 PM on Friday, mostly sunny skies prevail over the region as an area of high pressure remains in place over the Northeastern US. With the high being off to our north, winds continue to reside out of the east. As a result, temperatures are hovering in the 60s and 70s. Air quality levels still remain low thanks to the dry conditions over the region (dewpoints are still in the low 50s). Ozone will continue to rise toward the good/moderate threshold through the remainder of the afternoon. Expect ozone levels to creep into the moderate range in isolated areas in western PA over the weekend as warmer, more humid air moves in. This new air mass will also lead to an increase shot of rain late in the period, which will end up limiting ozone as we head into next week. *** The Weekend Forecast: Over the weekend, expect mostly sunny conditions to persist early as high pressure remains in control of our weather. The combination of the sun and afternoon temperatures getting into the 80s will help force ozone concentrations near the good / moderate threshold. A frontal system moving in from the Great Lakes / Ohio Valley region on Sunday will help produce more clouds and increased convection. Therefore, expect ozone to fall back into the good range. Air quality levels will continue to hover in the good category into the work week as another frontal system crosses the region, providing more clouds and rain over western PA. --Nolan
