Forecast Discussion: Forecast Discussion for May 20 to May 25, 2013: High pressure, light offshore flow and warm temperatures temporarily remain in place until a dry cold front moves through the area late Tuesday, leading to below normal temperatures and breezy conditions. Although regionally, AQIs for ozone and PM2.5 have increased slightly during the days high pressure has been in place, most areas are expected to continue experiencing AQIs in the GOOD air quality category. Several exceptions include the warmer inland areas of San Benito County, such as the remote ozone monitor at Pinnacles Nat’l Park which may see ozone AQIs reach the lower MODERATE category Monday and areas in the Salinas Valley which may see PM related AQIs reach the lower MODERATE category due to wind-blown fugitive dust stirred up as the cold front pushes through. |
