Forecast Discussion: Air quality forecast northern Indiana issued Monday, July 6, 2015 for Tuesday, July 7 - Thursday, July 9. A cold front which is currently located across Minnesota extending southward through western Iowa and eastern Nebraska will continue to move eastward and produce showers and thunderstorms along and well ahead of the front. Showers and thunderstorms will arrive in northwest Indiana by this evening/tonight and in north central and northeast Indiana during the overnight hours into Tuesday morning. Once cold front passes a location Tuesday morning air quality will improve into the good range and remain in the good range through Thursday for ozone with fine particulates increasing again by Thursday due to light wind speeds on Thursday. As result the air quality forecast for Thursday is moderate for PM2.5 for all regions of northern Indiana. The next air quality forecast update will be on Thursday/Friday. Weekend again has some potential for high ozone but will largely depend on cloud cover and if showers/thunderstorms develop as high temperature will be plenty warm enough with highs in the upper 80s. Air quality forecast provided IDEM, Office of Air Quality.
