Forecast Discussion: Air quality forecast northern Indiana issued Thursday, September 18, 2014 for Friday, September 19 - Monday, September 22. Expect a continuation of moderate air quality for fine particulates (PM2.5) for Friday and Saturday with an east southeast wind direction on Friday becoming south to south southwest by Saturday and wind speeds increasing from 10 to 15 miles per hour on Friday to above 15 mph by Saturday afternoon. Increasing cloudines and faster wind speeds on Saturday along with some shower activity by late afternoon will keep ozone concentrations from increasing into the moderate range despite the much warmer temperatures. A cold front will move through all of northern Indiana by Sunday morning improving the air quality into the good range. The next air quality forecast update will be on Monday. Air quality forecast provided by IDEM, Office of Air Quality.
