Forecast Discussion: With weather more reminiscent of July than early September, it will be a hot and humid return to work on Tuesday after the holiday weekend. Mostly sunny skies will give way to increasing clouds in the late afternoon and evening as a weak cold front approaches from the west. Very light to calm southwesterly winds in the morning will pick up in the afternoon ahead of the advancing front. With plenty of afternoon sun, ozone will reach the Moderate range. Particles will rise slightly in response to morning stagnation, but concentrations will remain in the upper Good range, as they have all weekend. **Extended Forecast: Scattered thunderstorms overnight ahead of the front will help to clean out the atmosphere. The air mass that will arrive behind the front on Wednesday will be less humid but not much cooler, and above average temperatures will continue for the rest of the week. As a result, particles will remain in the Good range on Wednesday, but ozone will just reach into the low Moderate range. On Thursday, surface winds will stagnate as the center of surface high pressure moves overhead. Ozone and particles will rebound, with ozone reaching the mid-to-upper Moderate range and particles climbing back into the low Moderate range. -Huff
