Forecast Discussion: Saturday, winds will increase out of the southeast as a low-pressure system approaches Louisiana from the west. These winds will help disperse pollutants; however, lingering smoke from regional fires will contribute to increased particle levels, especially in the southern portion of the state. As a result, AQI levels will be Good to low-Moderate. Sunday, the low-pressure system will move through Louisiana, enhancing vertical mixing and generating gusty southwesterly winds. These conditions will disperse pollutants, yielding Good AQI levels statewide. Monday, light to moderate northwesterly winds behind the departing low-pressure system will bring a cool, clean air mass into the region, keeping AQI levels Good throughout the state.
