Forecast Discussion: Although an isolated low YELLOW could be observed in the northeastern fragment of York County, ground level ozone concentrations are trending mostly in the GREEN category on this Wednesday afternoon. Large high pressure will continue to build over the Deep South on Thursday while disturbances ride along westerly flow on the northern flank of our ridge to our north. Temperatures are expected to rise into the mid and upper 90s with a downslope northwesterly flow expected. The general airmass remains relatively clean over both South Carolina and points upstream, and only isolated thunderstorms are expected. Under such conditions, expect ozone to crest in the low YELLOW category in Catawba, where local emissions from the Charlotte metro area should help boost concentrations within a light boundary layer flow. Otherwise, ozone concentrations should remain GREEN.
