Forecast Discussion: High pressure over the Carolinas today is expected to begin shifting offshore this afternoon, allowing southwesterly winds to pick up ahead of an approaching cold front from the west. This should cause a slight uptick in particulate matter concentrations, but levels should still remain in the middle Code GREEN range. The aforementioned front passes through the Triad early Monday, ushering in morning showers before drying out in the afternoon as weak high pressure builds in. The combination of morning rain and afternoong drying will likely keep particle pollution levels in the middle Code GREEN range. Tuesday will likey see a warm up as weak high pressure breaks down across the area and southwest flow increases, keeping particle pollution levels in the middle Code GREEN range. A weak frontal boundary passes through Tuesday night and high pressue builds across the Triad in its wake, which may bump up air quality levels into the middle to upper Code GREEN range. (PAYNE)
