Forecast Discussion: High pressure continues to build in from the west, with drier air aloft keeping skies generally free of cloud cover to push air quality levels into the upper Code GREEN range. The aforementioned high centers itself over the Carolinas tomorrow, causing low-level winds to stagnate and elevate ozone levels into the low Code YELLOW range. Erosion of the high pressure ridge over the Triad begins on Monday with the approach of a cold front from the west. However, the boundary is not expected to pass through the area until late Monday at the earliest. Thus, we can expect air quality levels to remain low Code YELLOW on Monday. Increasing clouds on Tuesday as the front passes through the Piedmont during the day should drop ozone and particle pollution levels into the upper Code GREEN range. (PAYNE)
