Forecast Discussion: Increasing southwest flow ahead of an upper level low diving southeast from the Northern Plains should generate enough low level dispersion to keep particle pollution levels in the upper Code GREEN range today across the Triad. The surface low pressure system associated with the aforementioned upper low will pass over the Carolinas Monday, generating some light showers through the day. The light precipitation may condense particles in the lower atmosphere, but northwest flow in the afternoon generated by the departing low should increase dispersion to keep particle pollution levels in the upper Code GREEN range. The Triad remains on the back edge of the low as it rapidly strengthens into a nor'easter over the northeastern United States, pulling cleaner and cooler air from the northwest to drop particle pollution into the middle Code GREEN range. High pressure builds in from the west on Wednesday, and calmer conditions may cause particulate matter concentrations to slightly rise into the middle to upper Code GREEN range. (PAYNE)
