Forecast Discussion: Today, as high pressure moves over Iowa, light to moderate southwesterly winds will keep pollutants well dispersed in Rochester, resulting in Good AQI levels. Tomorrow, light southerly winds will limit pollutant dispersion in Rochester. However, low pollutant carryover from previous days will keep AQI levels Good. Thursday, as a low-pressure system approaches from the west, south-southeasterly winds will transport pollutants and moisture into Rochester, enhancing particle production and leading to low-Moderate AQI levels. Friday, moderate to strong southerly winds ahead of the approaching low-pressure system will increase mixing and dispersion in Rochester, lowering AQI levels to Good. Saturday, a low-pressure system moving through Minnesota will produce scattered thunderstorms and moderate westerly winds, dispersing pollutants and bringing clean air into Rochester. Therefore, AQI levels will remain Good. Sunday, moderate to strong west-northwesterly winds behind the departing low-pressure system will continue to effectively disperse pollutants in Rochester, keeping AQI levels Good.
