Forecast Discussion: Today, moderate southerly winds will develop in Rochester, bringing pollutants and moisture into the area. These conditions will support particle production, resulting in low-Moderate AQI levels. Tomorrow, a weak cold front moving through southeastern Minnesota will generate moderate westerly winds that will help to disperse pollutants. Therefore, AQI levels will be Good. Monday, moderate southerly winds will develop ahead of an approaching cold front, transporting regional pollutants into Rochester and leading to Moderate AQI levels. Tuesday and Wednesday, the cold front will move through Rochester and depart to the east, enhancing atmospheric mixing and producing blustery northwesterly winds. These weather conditions will effectively disperse pollutants in southeastern Minnesota, yielding Good AQI levels on both days. Thursday, surface high pressure building to the south will cause moderate southwesterly winds to develop, transporting some pollutants into the Rochester area. However, low regional pollutant carryover from previous days will keep AQI levels Good.
