Forecast Discussion: Today, surface high pressure over the Dakotas will produce moderate west-northwesterly winds that will bring clean, dry air into southeastern Minnesota, reducing particle production and yielding Good AQI levels. Tomorrow and Saturday, moderate south-southwesterly winds will develop as surface high pressure moves over the eastern U.S. These winds will transport moisture and pollutants into Rochester, enhancing particle formation. While low pollutant carryover from previous days will keep AQI levels Good on Friday, AQI levels will be low-Moderate on Saturday. Sunday through Tuesday, a cold front will move through Minnesota and depart to the east, enhancing mixing in the lower levels of the atmosphere and dispersing pollutants in Rochester. As a result, AQI levels will be Good on all three days.
