Forecast Discussion: Today and tomorrow, as a low-pressure system moves through the western Great Lakes and high pressure builds over the Dakotas, moderate northwesterly winds will develop in Rochester, keeping pollutants well dispersed and leading to Good AQI levels on both days. Tuesday through Thursday, northwesterly winds will gradually diminish in Rochester, reducing pollutant dispersion. Furthermore, mostly sunny skies and temperatures in the mid- to upper-70s will aid ozone formation. While low pollutant carryover from previous days will lead to Good AQI levels on Tuesday and Wednesday, AQI levels will be low-Moderate on Thursday. Friday, mostly sunny skies will continue to support ozone production, and light and variable winds will limit pollutant dispersion. As a result, AQI levels will be low-Moderate.
