Forecast Discussion: Yet another Arctic blast – hopefully the last of the season – will impact Philadelphia on Friday. After Thursday’s snow ends in the evening, very cold and dry air will continue to filter into the Mid-Atlantic region. Sunny skies and relatively light winds on Friday will provide some relief the bitterly cold temperatures, however. The air mass in place over Philadelphia will be clean, but a fresh and deep snowpack will promote formation of a strong surface inversion that will allow for low-Moderate air quality. **Extended Forecast: Surface high pressure will move overhead on Saturday, promoting light winds and mostly sunny skies. Temperatures will still be below average, but it will not be as cold as Friday. Rising atmospheric humidity and light winds in the morning will push particle concentrations higher into the Moderate range. Sunday’s weather will be similar to Saturday’s, except it will be slightly warmer. Moderate air quality will continue. -Huff
